Soccer: Africa achieves highest percentage of teams reaching World Cup second round

# Soccer: The president of the African governing body, Patrice Motsepe, says hard work and investment in youth, coaching and infrastructure had paid off for the continent at the World Cup. Nine of the ten African countries at the tournament had reached the knockout phase. They are South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Morocco, while only Tunisia missed out. Motsepe says the continent achieved 90-percent success in qualifying for the second round – the highest of all regions.
