# The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union has signed a three-year wage agreement with employers in the private security sector. The deal provides for a 5.7-percent wage increase in the first year, followed by 5.5-percent increases in each of the next two years. Employers have also agreed to contribute 60-percent towards workers’ medical aid. SATAWU says the agreement protects jobs, prevents retrenchments during the agreement period, and marks a significant victory for security officers.
