# Statistics South Africa says civil debt cases show mixed trends in the latest data for April. The number of civil summonses issued for debt decreased by 2.5-percent in the three months compared to the same period last year. However, civil judgements recorded for debt increased by 3.6-percent. Stats SA’s Vhonani Kwinda says this indicates fewer cases being issued, but higher debt recovery through court rulings:
