# South African Revenue Service Commissioner, Johnstone Makhubu, says the 2026 tax filing season will commence on the first of next month with the auto-assessment period. This is for taxpayers with less complex tax matters, and whose information has been fully provided. The broader filing period for provisional and non-provisional taxpayers will begin on 13 July. Makhubu says the phased approach will help manage taxpayer flows and reduce unnecessary pressure on service channels:
