# DA leader and Cape Town mayoral candidate Geordin Hill-Lewis says the City of Cape Town plans to establish its own Metro Police Detective Unit to strengthen crime-fighting efforts. Speaking during his re-election campaign launch, Hill-Lewis argued that many communities are being failed due to under-resourcing, poor leadership and corruption. He says the proposed unit would investigate cases independently and help ensure successfully convictions of criminals:
