Truck driver given 20 years for explosive smuggling through Beitbridge border post

# A truck driver has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Musina Magistrate’s Court for attempting to smuggle explosives worth one-million-rand into South Africa through the Beitbridge border post. Edgar Maroto was arrested in April after authorities discovered thousands of blasting cartridges, detonators and fuse reels in his possession. The 42-year-old was sentenced to 15 years for unlawful possession of explosives and ten years under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, with part of the sentence running concurrently. The Hawks have welcomed the conviction.
