World Drowning Day and Western Cape government initiatives to keep people safe

# As the world commemorates International Drowning Prevention Day today, Western Cape MEC of Local Government, Environmental Affairs, and Development Planning, Anton Bredell is calling on people to take drowning prevention seriously, whether at home or during extreme weather. Alongside this global observance runs an annual drowning prevention awareness programme that promotes responsible behavior. Bredell places a strong emphasis on water safety education. He says each home must play a role, be vigilant, be educated, and, above all, behave appropriately near water.
