# The Western Cape MEC for Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, says youth employment received a boost through the 65-million-rand Boekenhoutskloof informal settlement upgrade project in Bonnievale. Completed in March this year, the project delivered 577 serviced sites, including essential services such as water, sanitation, electricity, and waste management. Simmers confirmed that the 20-month project created 42 job opportunities, with more than half taken up by young men and women:
