# The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure has completed the periodic maintenance project on three roads near Wellington and Malmesbury. The 16-month, 95.5-million-rand project included the re-gravelling of eroded road shoulders, remedial work to structures, and installation of subsoil drains. The department’s spokesperson, Jandré Bakker, says they created 15-thousand person-days of work against a target of six-thousand-425. He adds that periodic maintenance is a crucial part of the department’s strategy to extend the life of the road network:
