# Quality assurance body, Umalusi, has introduced strict new rules for online and distance learning providers offering the National Senior Certificate. The council says these non-negotiable requirements were developed with the Department of Basic Education, the Independent Examinations Board, and the South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute to ensure credibility and fairness of assessments. Umalusi CEO Mafu Rakometsi told the media, online providers must adhere to the national curriculum and in-person writing of final examinations:
