UDM welcomes review of the White Paper on Local Government [SOUND]

# The UDM has welcomed the launch of the Review of the 1998 White Paper on Local Government by the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. The review aims to solve the overarching issues facing local municipalities, including limited funding and a lack of professional skills and transparency. UDM’s, Yongama Zigebe, says local government has been the epicentre of governance failure, characterised by service delivery collapse, financial mismanagement, and the erosion of public trust:
