# The United Democratic Movement has called on Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts to launch an urgent inquiry into expenditure, delays, and governance failures surrounding the Upper and Lower uMkhomazi Water Projects in KwaZulu-Natal. The projects, valued at 48-billion-rand, were meant to provide water to thousands of households but have faced major setbacks, cost escalations, and procurement disputes. The UDM says poor oversight and corruption have denied communities their constitutional right to water.
