# Tshwane mayor Nasiphi Moya on Tuesday unveiled 14 of the 100 cherry pickers recently purchased by the metro. This forms part of the administration’s broader strategy to reduce dependence on private contractors and rebuild the metro’s internal technical and operational capacity. Mayoral committee member for Corporate and Shared Services, Kholofelo Morodi, says for years, basic services in Tshwane were handed over to external contractors, often at enormous expense to ratepayers:
