# The City of Tshwane’s multiparty coalition government has identified the tourism sector as a priority economic sector for support to enable enhanced job creation and economic growth. In 2024, tourism and travel contributed 618-billion-rand to the South African economy. Mayoral committee member for Economic Growth and Spatial Planning, Sarah Mabotsa, says that to accelerate economic growth, the coalition government approved a comprehensive Economic Revitalisation Strategy earlier this year:
