# The City of Tshwane has approved the embedded generation and energy wheeling policies, a big step in its energy transition. This is part of the metro’s efforts to support households, businesses, and independent producers, who want to generate their own electricity and contribute to the grid. The metro says these policies are not only about new technologies, but they are also about energy security, economic opportunity and environmental sustainability. It adds that the policies are aligned with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa’s regulatory framework.
