# The Truth and Solidarity Movement says South Africa’s water crisis must never become another opportunity for political parties to manufacture outrage during election season, and then forget the people once the votes have been counted. This comes as Parliament’s portfolio committee on Water and Sanitation kicked off its nationwide public hearings on the Water Services Amendment Bill in Mpumalanga last week. The movement’s Grant Harmse says there is a disturbing political habit in South Africa of treating basic services as political generosity:
