Stellenbosch University professor calls on government to invest in mental health [SOUND]

# Only five-percent of the national healthcare budget is allocated to mental health services, despite one-third of South Africans experiencing a mental health condition, and more than 27-percent affected by depression. This is according to Stellenbosch University professor, Renata Schoeman. She says limited access, stigma and an underfunded system leave millions without support, exacerbating the burden on hospitals and emergency services:
