# South Africa is commemorating National Child Protection Week from today, highlighting children’s rights under the Constitution and Children’s Act. Since 1997, the campaign has aimed to raise awareness and stop abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Led by the Department of Social Development with support from civil society and government, the week seeks to make a call to action that protecting children is a shared responsibility to end the cycle of harm towards them.
