# The Mining Affected Communities United in Action is calling on artisanal miners, mining associations and affected communities to apply or nominate representatives for a proposed National Artisanal Miners Lekgotla. Applications and nominations close on 31 October. The organisation says artisanal miners have had limited input into laws and policies affecting the sector and face barriers to permits, land, finance and equipment. MACUA says the gathering will give miners an opportunity to develop a collective voice on the future of artisanal mining.
