# The civil organisation Soil of Africa says the Gauteng Education Department has demonstrated alarming inconsistency and incompetence in dealing with serious challenges affecting both learners and educators. The organisation has expressed concern at the over 200 schools currently classified as high-risk, plagued by issues ranging from safety to educator misconduct and ill-discipline. Soil of Africa chairperson, Bongani Ramotja, says the department is not equipped to handle these issues:
