Social Development tackles Human Rights Commission concerns over skills gaps at secure care centres [SOUND]

# The Department of Social Development says it is moving to address serious concerns raised by the South African Human Rights Commission about unqualified staff at secure care centres. The department’s spokesperson, Bathembu Futshane, says the commission found gaps in the qualifications and skills of child and youth care workers and provinces have now agreed on clear next steps, including boosting training, auditing qualifications, and lobbying universities to expand child courses:
