Small Business Development Committee welcomes stringent controls to safeguard spaza shop support fund

# The Parliament Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development has welcomed the stringent internal controls and due diligence measures implemented by the Department of Small Business Development and the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency. This is in ensuring that the Spaza Shop Support Fund reaches qualifying South African citizens operating legitimate spaza shop businesses as its intended beneficiaries. The committee chairperson, Masefako Dikgale, says a total of 930 disbursements had been made, amounting to approximately 57-million-rand. She commended the department and the agency for strengthening verification mechanisms.
