# The South African Police Service has dismissed Brigadier Rachel Matjeng, who is one of 12 officers linked to the 228-million-rand Medicare24 SAPS tender scandal. Her dismissal follows the conclusion of an internal disciplinary process in which Matjeng was found guilty on multiple counts of serious misconduct, arising from her relationship with alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala. Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says corruption, criminality and any form of collusion with criminals have no place within SAPS:
