# The South African Federation of Trade Unions has not held any formal meeting with the South African Communist Party leadership regarding participation in the proposed Conference of the Left. SAFTU’s Asive Dyani says no constitutional structure of the federation has discussed, debated, or resolved whether the federation will participate in or associate itself with the conference. She says any suggestion that SAFTU has already committed itself to the conference is therefore incorrect and misleading:
