SADTU welcomes Education Labour Relations Council’s probe into ghost workers [SOUND]

# The South African Democratic Teachers Union has applauded the Education Labour Relations Council’s recent appointment to lead a systematic, nationwide inquiry into allegations of ghost workers in the public schooling system. In 2024, the Auditor-General discovered that the Mpumalanga Education Department alone paid 6.4-million-rand in salaries to ghost workers. Sadtu’s spokesperson, Nomusa Cembi, says ghost workers are not an administrative hiccup; they represent orchestrated criminal syndicates that siphon scarce public resources into private pockets:
