# The South African Bureau of Standards is facing mounting scrutiny over its operations. This is amid growing concerns raised by Parliament’s portfolio committee on Trade, Industry, and Competition. During an oversight visit to SABS’ headquarters in Pretoria, committee member Toby Chance expressed alarm over the declining state of services. He told the SABC that the state of the organisation poses a risk to the country’s standardisation processes and regulatory functions:
