# Road running: Gerda Steyn has cemented her status as one of South Africa’s greatest ultra-distance runners after winning her fifth women’s race title at the 99th Comrades Marathon in KwaZulu-Natal. Steyn dominated the Up Run in a record-breaking unofficial time of five-hours-45-minutes-two-seconds. The performance eclipsed her previous Up Run record of five-hours-49-minutes-46-seconds extending her remarkable dominance in the race. Steyn pulled away from the field with about 20-kilometres remaining, securing a comfortable victory over her closest challengers, Zimbabwean Nobukhosi Tshuma.
