# RISE Mzansi says the Immigration Amendment Bill must be about a clear commitment to apply the law, to protect the country’s borders, and to respect human dignity. The bill, which was passed in the National Assembly yesterday, sets out clear rules for detention, magistrate oversight, and child protection to ensure fairness and accountability. RISE Mzansi’s Makashule Gana says if the country’s systems worked, the arrest and deportation of undocumented migrants would be a last resort, not the frontline of enforcement:
