PSA member awarded R50,000 compensation for being unfairly overlooked for a principal post

# The Public Servants Association has welcomed the 50-thousand-rand compensation awarded to one of its members, for being unfairly overlooked for a principal post at a secondary school in Limpopo. The Education Labour Relations Council Commissioner found that the provincial Education Department had committed an unfair labour practice by failing to shortlist the PSA member without valid reasons. The association’s Phillip Maponya says this is a victory for all public servants subjected to arbitrary and unfair treatment in recruitment and promotion processes.
