# The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union welcomes the Labour Court judgment handed down yesterday, dismissing an application for leave to appeal over the transfer of operations at the Mangaung Correctional Centre in Bloemfontein, Free State. The court previously ruled that the transfer to the Department of Correctional Services, effective 1 July, triggered Section 197 of the Labour Relations Act, meaning affected G4S employees would automatically transfer. The union’s Richard Mamabolo says the ruling protects accumulated rights and employment security.
