Police holding cells in full capacity due drunk drivers arrest in Pietermaritzburg and Kokstad, KZN [SOUND]

# KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department has confirmed that police holding cells in Pietermaritzburg and Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal have reached full capacity following the arrest of 52 more motorists for drunk driving. This adds to 489 arrests since 15 August 2025 through the Alufakwa and Zero Tolerance operations. The Department’s spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says offenders risk up to ten years’ imprisonment and up to 72-hours in holding cells:
