Police continue to monitor Pharoe Park following eviction protest [SOUND]

# Gauteng police is monitoring the area around Pharoe Park, in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, following yesterday’s eviction protest. Residents blocked the entrances to streets with rubble and burning tyres in an attempt to prevent officials from evicting them. Police spokesperson, Thabiso Makgato, says they were executing a court order relating to evictions of unlawful occupants in the low-cost rental stock at Pharoe Park. She adds that 422 units that were illegally occupied have been cleared:
