Police arrest more than 17-thousand suspects in nationwide crime operations

# A total of 17-thousand-160 suspects were arrested for various crime offences during a week of coordinated crime-fighting operations across all nine provinces. The arrests were made through the simultaneous execution of Operation Shanela and National Festive Season Operations, targeting violent crime, organised criminal networks, drug trafficking and illicit trade. Police spokesperson Vincent Mukhathi says 175 illegal firearms were recovered, including high-calibre weapons, as well as two-thousand-and-59 rounds of ammunition.
