# Parliament’s portfolio committee on Correctional Services has expressed concern over allegations at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre in Pretoria. Inmates alleged they are being forced to pay 240-rand for access to a bunk bed, with those unable to pay allegedly left sleeping on concrete floors in overcrowded and unsanitary cells. The committee says it is equally concerned by the arrest of a correctional official in the Western Cape after prohibited substances, cellular phones and other items were allegedly found in his vehicle during a targeted operation at Goodwood Correctional Centre.
