# We kick off with rugby: The three South African teams still in with a chance of reaching the United Rugby Championship’s play-offs have all to play for this coming weekend. The Stormers are currently second on the log and certain of qualifying, but victory over Cardiff in Wales on Friday will hand them a home quarterfinal. The Bulls are now fourth and the Lions fifth, and victories in the final group round will secure qualification. The Bulls face Italian side Benetton at Loftus while the Lions are away to Munster in Ireland.
# Golf: South Africa’s Yurav Premlall secured his first DP World Tour title by winning the Catalunya Championship in Barcelona by 14 shots. He finished at 28 under to claim the largest winning margin for a maiden DP World Tour title. His compatriot Shaun Norris finished second. Another South African, JC Ritchie, shared third spot with Spain’s Alejandro Del Rey and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy. Premlall says he has worked hard to get into this position:
# Cricket: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been knocked out of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai suffered a two-wicket defeat to reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, leaving them ninth on the table. Five-time winners Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow by five wickets, as they remain rooted to the bottom of the ten-team standings. RCB had climbed to the top of the standings with 14 points, while Chennai is fifth with 12 points. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs.
More cricket news: England’s fast bowler, Gus Atkinson, is in doubt for next month’s home Test series against New Zealand after sustaining a concussion during a county match for Surrey. Two bouncers from Nottinghamshire’s international bowler, Josh Tongue, struck him on the helmet. He was later substituted and then failed a concussion test. The first of the three Tests against New Zealand starts at Lord’s in London on the fourth of June, followed by matches at the Oval in London and at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
# And soccer: Arsenal defeated West Ham 1-nil to move closer to winning their first Premier League title in 22 years. The Gunners took the lead through Leandro Trossard in the 83rd minute. West Ham saw Callum Wilson’s stoppage-time strike controversially ruled out by the video assistant referee for a foul on Gunners’ keeper, David Raya. Mikel Arteta’s side is now five points clear of Manchester City, who have a game in hand. Arteta gave credit to the referees:
