# We start off with Soccer: Hundreds of supporters have welcomed back the bronze medal-winning Bafana Bafana squad at the OR Tambo International Airport this morning. South Africa beat the Democratic Republic of Congo to finish third in the Africa Cup of Nations which was eventually won by hosts Ivory Coast. Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, and EFF leader, Julius Malema, were some of the dignitaries that greeted the squad at the airport. Bafana Bafana captain, Ronwen Williams, says they are proud of their achievement:
# Cricket: It was the Dane Piedt-show as the Proteas put up a fight on day two of the second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton. The spinner picked up five wickets and Dane Paterson took three as the Black Caps were bowled out for 211 runs, to hand South Africa a first-innings lead of 31 runs. The Proteas were bowled out this morning for 242 in their first innings, with Ruan de Swardt scoring 64. Piedt says it was a great day for the team:
And in more Cricket news, The Proteas Women shift their focus to their one-off Test against Australia at the WACA in Perth from tomorrow following a closely contested white-ball leg Down Under. It will be South Africa’s second four-day match since 2014 and their first ever Test against Australia. Proteas all-rounder Nadine de Klerk says it is going to be a great challenge:
# Rugby: The Springboks aren’t available for the weekend’s two United Rugby Championship matches in South Africa as they are still busy with their resting protocols. The Sharks host the Stormers in Durban while the Lions and the Bulls will do battle in Johannesburg. Stormers coach John Dobson says although he is without Bok stalwarts Manie Libbok, Deon Fourie and Damian Willemse, the team will be boosted by the return of captain Salmaan Moerat, Evan Roos, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Garry Porter.
# And finally, Motorsport: Charles Leclerc says he hopes the new Ferrari will be easier to drive. The Italian Formula One team revealed their new car at their Maranello base. Leclerc, from Monaco, says it has a completely different look and he cannot wait to drive it. He wants to give their fans plenty to cheer about this year after Ferrari ended third in last year’s constructor’s championship behind Red Bull and Mercedes. This year’s bumper season of 24 races starts in Bahrain on the second of next month.
