Good day, let’s look at the latest sports news and scores:
# We start with Soccer: Amajita bounced back at the U20 FIFA World Cup with a record 5-0 win over New Caledonia, their biggest-ever victory at the tournament. Siviwe Nkwali opened the scoring before Shakeel April netted a penalty and Siviwe Magidigidi struck before halftime. Magidigidi added a second after the break, while Lazola Maku sealed the emphatic result. The win lifts South Africa to third in Group E with three points. Amajita next face the USA, who is leading the group, on Sunday at Estadio El Teniente in Chile.
# Tennis: Twenty-four-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic says schedule reorganisation talks have occurred for over 15 years, but players are not united to effect change, citing self-interest. Top players like Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, and Iga Swiatek have criticised the demanding schedule and the number of tournaments they play each year. Djokovic says players are not investing enough time and energy into trying to make change happen:

The McLaren driver uncharacteristically crashed out of qualifying at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and then repeated the same error on the opening lap of the race and also crashed out. His teammate Lando Norris narrowed his deficit in the title chase to 25 points, heading into this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix. Piastri says he won’t repeat the mistakes he made in Baku:
# Golf: South Africans Louis Oosthuizen, Herman Loubser, Michael Hollick and Richard Sterne have all made a strong start at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. The quartet are just two shots off the lead held by England’s Matthew Jordan, American Ryan Brehm and the Netherlands’ Darius van Driel on nine under par. Of this quartet, only Sterne has come closest to winning this title when he finished tied second in 2016. Branden Grace is the only South African to have won this tournament back in 2012.
And in more Golf news, PGA of America chief executive, Derek Sprague, says he plans to apologise to Rory McIlroy and the rest of Team Europe for the abuse they suffered at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. McIlroy was subjected to verbal abuse, and his wife, Erica, was hit by a bottle thrown by an American fan. Europe defeated the US 15-13 to win the Ryder Cup. Sprague told the Golf Channel that it is unfortunate that some fans crossed the line:
