# EFF leader Julius Malema says the party would introduce a policy requiring equal representation of men and women in the workplace. Speaking at the launch of the party’s election manifesto and vision for government, Malema said no workplace would be allowed to employ more men than women. He argued that gender equality must be enforced across all sectors to ensure fair access to employment opportunities and to advance the economic empowerment of women in South Africa:

# ANC Limpopo chairperson and premier Phophi Ramathuba says the party will honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy by creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving service delivery. Addressing supporters at the ANC Mandela Legacy Rally in Sibasa, Limpopo, Ramathuba blamed poor performance of service delivery on some deployed officials. She warned that underperforming municipal leaders would be recalled, saying the ANC will always prioritise the needs of poor communities above individual office bearers:

# Tourism minister Patricia de Lille is facing scrutiny over a two-day trip to Mexico during the FIFA World Cup that reportedly cost taxpayers about one-million-rand. De Lille says the visit was aimed at promoting South Africa as a tourism destination and strengthening tourism ties with Mexico. The trip has sparked questions over government spending, with critics questioning whether the cost was justified despite the minister maintaining the visit formed part of South Africa’s tourism promotion efforts.

# Motorsport: Lando Norris snatched a dramatic pole position for today’s Hungarian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver narrowly edged out Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton. However, late-session chaos triggered two grid penalties. Hamilton fell to fifth after blocking Oscar Piastri, and Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes was demoted to seventh for a yellow flag violation. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will be in second position while Antonelli’s team-mate George Russell will start in sixth place.

# Rugby: The Lions and defending champions Griquas secured dominant, bonus-point victories in yesterday’s Currie Cup Round Two action. At Ellis Park, the Lions bounced back with a comprehensive 52-29 thumping of the Pumas. Jarod Cairns scored a brace to add to the hosts’ seven tries. In Kimberley, the Griquas crushed the Bulls XV by 56-26. The hosts scored eight tries in total with hat-tricks from Bobby Alexander and Gurshwin Wehr. This afternoon the Stormers 23 take on the Boland Kavaliers at the Boland Stadium in Wellington at 3 pm.

# And finally: Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Jayden Adams, saying he understands the pain of losing a son. Speaking in Stellenbosch where Adams was laid to rest, Broos described the 25-year-old as a remarkable footballer who overcame early challenges at Mamelodi Sundowns to become a regular for club and country. He added that his death remains difficult to comprehend:
