# Businessman Brown Mogotsi has told the Madlanga commission that the political killings task team is being used for political purposes beyond its original mandate. Mogotsi raised concerns about raids, including one at tenderpreneur Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s Pretoria home, and suggested the team was involved in actions linked to alleged corruption within Crime Intelligence. Mogotsi expressed fears for his safety following an alleged attempt on his life:
# The Freedom Front Plus is calling for the ANC’s Malusi Gigaba and MK Party’s Brian Molefe, to resign as members of Parliament. Both face charges linked to alleged corruption in Transnet’s locomotive procurement process in 2014, including fraud and violations of the Public Finance Management Act. FF Plus’s Philip van Staden warns that corrupt officials who loot public enterprises have no place in the National Assembly and must face both parliamentary and legal consequences:
# Build One South Africa says National Assembly speaker Thoko Didiza has approved a parliamentary debate on the education crisis, set for next Friday. The party is calling for the current 30-percent matric pass mark to be raised to a minimum of 50-percent, warning that the low threshold weakens learning and fuels high youth unemployment. BOSA’s Roger Solomons says the debate will focus on improving education standards, ensuring young South Africans are better prepared for meaningful employment.
# The president of Ghana, John Mahama, has emphasised that Africa must reclaim sovereignty over its natural resources to secure the well-being of its people. Speaking at the 80th UN General Assembly, he linked today’s inequalities to slavery, colonialism, and centuries of extraction, calling the slave trade a crime against humanity. He urged an end to exploitative contracts urged Africans set the value of their resources and define their own economic future:
