# The Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo has postponed the Phala Phala farm robbery case against three people to next Friday for bail judgement. The National Prosecuting Authority says sufficient evidence links former employee Froliana Joseph, her brother, David Joseph, and Imanuwela David to the burglary at president Cyril Ramaphosa’s game farm in 2020. They face charges of theft, housebreaking, money laundering and conspiracy to commit robbery. NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says the state didn’t oppose bail for Froliana Joseph since she is breastfeeding her one-year-old baby:

# The chief of the South African Navy, Vice Admiral Monde Lobese, has extended the investigation of the board of inquiry into the deaths of three submariners on the Cape Peninsula on 20 September. Gillian Hector, William Mathipa and Mokwapa Mojela died after being swept off the SAS Manthatisi in rough seas. They were conducting a vertical transfer from the submarine to an Air Force helicopter when they were swept out to sea. A spokesperson says the board wanted the extension to successfully complete its work.

# Eskom has announced the implementation of stage two load-shedding starting this afternoon due to anticipated lower weekend electricity demand and sufficient emergency reserves. Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the scheduled load-shedding will continue until 5 AM tomorrow, with a suspension until 4 pm on Monday:

# Soccer: Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. South Africa will take on Benin at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban next Saturday and then travel to face Rwanda three days later. Three players received their first Bafana call-ups after impressing at their clubs – Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows, Jayden Adams of Stellenbosch and Polokwane City’s Oswin Appolis. Bafana are currently unbeaten in 11 successive games, winning six and drawing five.

# Financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-74-cents and the euro at 20-rand-2-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-90-cents and Bitcoin trades at 36-thousand-994-dollars-3-cents.
