# The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court has postponed the bail appeal of alleged political fixer and controversial businessman Brown Mogotsi to June 22. The State told the court that it required to disclose the docket to the defence. Mogotsi’s legal team argues that new facts, including confirmation of his residential address, justify a renewed bail application. Mogotsi is facing criminal charges for allegedly staging his own assassination attempt in Vosloorus. He faces charges including defeating the ends of justice, perjury, unlawful firearm possession and discharging a firearm in a public place.

Students from several campuses across Greater Jakarta gathered near the State Palace. More than four-thousand security personnel were deployed to manage the situation. Several of the protesters’ demands focus on the economy, aligning with foreign investors who have pulled out funds and driven down both stocks and the rupiah, Asia’s worst-performing currency this year.
# Road running: Three-time Comrades Marathon champion Bongumusa Mthembu says he hopes to continue running to inspire young people from rural communities. Mthembu, who won the iconic race in 2014, 2017 and 2018, says he is confident that six months of preparation have positioned him well for Sunday’s event between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. He says while the race always brings nerves, he trusts the work done during training. Mthembu also encouraged spectators to line the route and support the thousands of athletes taking part.
