# The DA has opened criminal charges against MK Party’s member of Parliament Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, accusing former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter of helping recruit and traffic young South African men into Russia’s war in Ukraine. According to the party, families claim the men’s communication had been cut off. The DA’s Ryan Smith says they are reportedly in a dangerous warzone:
# Controversial businessman Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala says he met KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi once at The Pearls of Umhlanga in the province in April seeking assistance over delayed payments and missing purchase orders. Testifying to Parliament’s ad hoc committee at the Kgoši Mampuru Prison in Pretoria, Matlala says he told Mkhwanazi he suspected corruption, stating more bribery allegations. Matlala says Mkhwanazi responded by saying he would intervene and resolve the issues:

# Venezuela has revoked the operating rights for six major international airlines after they suspended flights to the country following a warning from the US Federal Aviation Administration. Venezuela’s civil aviation authority revoked permits for Iberia, TAP, Turkish Airlines, Avianca, Latam Colombia, and Gol. The government says they had joined actions of state terrorism promoted by the United States by unilaterally halting commercial flights. The FAA warned major airlines of a potentially hazardous situation when flying over Venezuela due to a worsening security situation around the country.
# Cricket: South African captain Laura Wolvaardt was sold to Delhi Capitals for 2.1-million-rand during the auction for the Women’s Premier League, starting in India in February. Capitals won the bidding war against former champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Wolvaardt was expected to be a popular choice following her brilliance in the one-day World Cup, where she scored 571 runs – the record for the most runs in a single edition. She played for Gujarat Giants in the previous two seasons, scoring a total of 342 runs in 13 matches.
