# A crime expert says Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala’s testimony to Parliament’s ad hoc committee at the Kgoši Mampuru Prison in Pretoria tomorrow could confirm prior allegations and new information linked to irregular police dealings. Speaking to SABC News, Internal Revenue Service Forensic Investigations’ Chad Thomas says Matlala may implicate others to save himself, revealing details of syndicates, and misuse of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department members. Thomas emphasised Matlala’s testimony may expose the full extent of criminal networks:
Meanwhile, Calvin and Family Security Services has filed a 100-million-rand defamation lawsuit against former Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department deputy chief, Revo Spies, over claims he made at the Madlanga commission. Spies alleged the company’s vehicles were illegally fitted with blue lights. CFS Services stated that the allegations are false and based on gossip from Spies’ former colleagues. CFS director, Calvin Mathibeli contend that Spies’ testimony is defamatory and is causing harm to their business.
# The City of Cape Town says drugs continue to flood the streets, and many of the recent successes involve confiscating large quantities from individuals. Enforcement agencies arrested 348 suspects this past week and confiscated a plastic bag containing 54.46 grams of tik and 603 whole Mandrax tablets in Strand. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says with expanded policing powers, they can begin clamping down on the syndicates that supply these dealers:
# The Public Servants Association joins South Africa and the global community in observing the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children from today untill 10 December. PSA’s Claude Naicker emphasises prevention, calling for stronger law enforcement, safer workplaces, and accountability for perpetrators. He urges society to challenge harmful norms, uphold ethical standards, and maintain year-round action to protect women and children from gender-based violence and abuse:
# Rugby: SA Rugby congratulated World Rugby Men’s 15’s Player of the Year Malcolm Marx, fellow nominees Pieter-Steph du Toit and Ox Nché, as well as three other players named in this year’s World Rugby Men’s 15s Dream Team.
