# The Madlanga commission has withdrawn suspended Crime Intelligence deputy head Major General Feroz Khan’s in camera testimony. Khan’s legal team confirmed he remains in critical condition after being shot and is unable to provide instructions. He is unconscious and sedated. The commission’s chairperson, Mbuyiseli Madlanga, told Advocate Zubair Khan to withdraw the blanket in camera application, saying it must be fixed with proper motivation:
# The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse calls on government to urgently provide clarity on today’s planned rollout of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences, as several municipalities have gone to court to challenge it. # Germany’s Lufthansa Airlines Group has announced its biggest-ever South African winter schedule for the 2026/27 season, increasing long-haul services between South Africa and Europe to 38-weekly flights, starting in late October. Lufthansa is adding flights between Munich and Gauteng, increasing the route to five weekly services, while the Frankfurt to Cape Town route will become a daily service. SWISS will introduce new Airbus A350 aircraft on its Zurich to Gauteng route, while Edelweiss continues up to five-weekly nonstop flights between Zurich and Cape Town.
# Cricket: Veteran allrounder Marizanne Kapp says the Proteas Women are eager to lift South Africa’s spirits after Bafana Bafana was eliminated from the Soccer World Cup. The Proteas play co-hostess England in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup tomorrow. Kapp says their main goal has always been to win a World Cup for South Africa as nothing brings the country together like sport. Tomorrow’s winner will play Australia in Sunday’s final after the six-time champion defeated the West Indies in yesterday’s first semifinal.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-41-cents and the euro at 18-rand-69-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-74-cents and Bitcoin trades at 58-thousand-413-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-and-26-dollars-6-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 72-dollars-26-cents a barrel.
