# The head of the Investigating Directorate against Corruption, Andrea Johnson, has admitted to the Madlanga commission she gave Parliament’s ad hoc Committee incorrect information about the timeline of the investigation into Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo. She responding to questions from commissioner Sesi Baloyi. Johnson concedes she wrongly stated that the Section 27 referral reached her in mid-December 2024, yet she had already authorised investigative steps by December 6:

# Activists and Citizens Forum says former National Director of Public Prosecutions head, Shamila Batohi, must take full responsibility for the outcome of the Nkabinde inquiry. The inquiry has cleared controversial South Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions, Andrew Chauke, of all accusations against him by Batohi. Forum spokesperson, Dennis Bloem, says a golden opportunity was missed to clean the Public Prosecution Authority once and for all:

# The City of Cape Town says partnerships with key industry bodies are helping to strengthen the metro’s priority growth sectors. This is contributing to 15-thousand-948 direct jobs and 18.9-billion-rand in investments during the 2025/26 financial year. Mayoral committee member for Economic Growth, James Vos, says the projects are delivered through the city’s Special Purpose Vehicle partners, which operate across key industries:

Moving abroad:

# The number ​of confirmed Ebola ‌cases in the Democratic ​Republic of ​Congo has increased to two-thousand-536, ⁠including ​one-thousand-and-33 deaths. The country’s ​Public ​Health Institute says in ‌its ⁠latest report 50 new cases ​were ​detected in ​the eastern ​provinces ⁠of Ituri and North ⁠Kivu on Monday. This makes it the fastest-spreading outbreak to date. The World Health Organization has designated the situation a public health emergency of international concern due to documented cross-border spread into Uganda and global travel risks.

# Soccer: South African governing body SAFA says reports that Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has been offered a one-year contract extension are false and misleading. Reports circulated earlier this week that the association was extending his contract due to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers starting in September. Broos remains under contract until the end of this month. SAFA says an official announcement on the make-up of Bafana Bafana’s technical team will be made once the appropriate internal processes have been completed.

# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-42-cents and the euro at 18-rand-73-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-94-cents and Bitcoin trades at 65-thousand-652-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-and-88-dollars-16-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 93-dollars-13-cents a barrel.
