# ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says the government of national unity’s failure to tackle illegal immigration is the real crisis facing South Africa. He argues weak enforcement and poor border control have allowed the situation to worsen, placing pressure on public services and communities. Mashaba calls for stronger immigration management and decisive action by authorities. He warns continued inaction will deepen socio-economic challenges and erode public trust in government institutions:

More than eight-thousand-200 foreign nationals have meanwhile been processed for voluntary repatriation through the Beitbridge border post in Limpopo in under two weeks. But Border Management Authority’s Michael Masiapato says the process was disrupted last week when 17 buses arrived without the required emergency travel certificates. He says vehicles were directed to the Musina truck stop to prevent congestion while documentation was verified. Masiapato says Beitbridge will not be used as a holding area for non-compliant operators, urging full compliance with cross-border regulations.

# Four people have been shot and killed inside a shack at the Solomon Mahlangu informal settlement in Walmer in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape in the early hours of this morning. Police say the two men and two women were found lying in different rooms in what appears to be execution-style killings. The provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit has launched an investigation into the incident, with the circumstances surrounding the shooting still unclear.

# The South African Revenue Service has introduced a limited-functionality online waiting room to support taxpayers during the auto-assessment period. The new feature allows eligible individual eFiling users to securely view their auto-assessment results in read-only mode while reducing pressure on the eFiling system during peak demand. Commissioner Johnstone Makhubu emphasised to SABC News the waiting room is available exclusively to individual eFiling users during high-traffic auto-assessment periods:

# Tennis: British number one Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to a stress fracture in her lower right leg. She was scheduled to face Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic in today’s first match on Court One. She had been dealing with a niggle in her lower leg since reaching the final at Queen’s earlier this month. Raducanu says playing at Wimbledon, in front of a home crowd, means everything to her, so this is really difficult to process.

# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-44-cents and the euro at 18-rand-74-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-71-cents and Bitcoin trades at 60-thousand-58-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-and-34-dollars-25-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 73-dollars-12-cents a barrel.
