# The ANC secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula says the truth about the good work the ANC has done for South Africans over the past 30 years is known throughout society. Mbalula joined the congregation at the Covenant Fellowship Church International in eSikhawini, KwaZulu-Natal. He says the church plays an important role in the reconstruction and development of people’s souls while problems like broken families plague society:
# The eight-year-old Botswana girl who is the only survivor of last week’s fatal bus crash on the R518 in Limpopo is recovering well at the Mokopane Hospital. Lorraine Atlang Siako was airlifted to hospital after the crash that claimed the lives of 45 other people on Thursday. The bus was transporting people from Gaborone in Botswana to Moria for the annual Easter pilgrimage when it plunged over the bridge en burst into flamed 50 meters below. The provincial MEC for Health’s spokesperson, Thilivhali Muavha, says the department will start with autopsies tomorrow to identify the victims.
# Meanwhile, the Border Management Authority commissioner, Mike Masiapato, says the entity continues to provide assistance working with all organisations involved with the Botswana bus accident. The BMU will conduct law enforcement operations and facilitate legitimate movement of goods and people at the Stockpoort and Groblersbrug Border posts in Lephalale, Limpopo today. The BMA’s spokesperson, Mmemme Mogotsi, says Masiapoto will start his engagement at the Stockport border, the port of entry that was used by the doomed Botswana bus to cross into South Africa:
# Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to “destroy” Hamas and press ahead with a ground offensive in Rafah as thousands of protesters called for his removal. The Israeli prime minister delivered a televised address to the nation on Sunday, saying he would do “everything” possible to secure the release of hostages abducted by Hamas. Netanyahu said his army would move civilians from Rafah before launching an offensive on the southern city. Several of Israel’s allies and humanitarian groups have warned that a ground offensive in Rafah would result in a human catastrophe.
# And, cricket: The Gujarat Titans managed a straightforward, seven-wicket victory in their Indian Premier League match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon. The Titans only needed 19.1 overs to get to 168 for three, in reply to the Sunrisers 162 for eight in their 20 overs. And an all-round performance from the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam saw them get off the mark with a 20-run win over the Chennai Super Kings. The Capitals’ 191 for 5 secured their first win of the competition with the Super Kings suffering their first defeat.
