# President Cyril Ramaphosa has enacted amendments to the Companies Act of 2008 to enhance business ease and corporate transparency. The Companies Amendment Bill and Companies Second Amendment Bill aim to streamline business operations, increase executive remuneration transparency, and address earnings disparities. Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says these measures seek to prevent unethical business practices and promote equity within companies:
# Eskom has announced the ongoing suspension of load-shedding, marking four months of uninterrupted power supply since 26 March, including 87 days of constant supply throughout the winter period. Eskom’s spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the power utility reached a significant milestone on Tuesday by achieving 35-thousand-megawatts available capacity, with an evening peak demand of 30-thousand-740-megawatts:
# The MK Party has noted the malicious content posted on its Facebook page in a hacking incident. Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhela says the party has been in contact with the Meta support team and are working hard to regain control of the account. Ndhela says cybersecurity remains a serious threat to all businesses, political parties and global citizens. He adds they will continue to fight to change the plight of the people regardless of whichever threats may come its way.
# Olympic Games: The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture has condemned the participation of what it describes as the genocidal state of Israel in Paris. Deputy minister Peace Mabe says they view Israel’s participation as grossly inhuman, and indicative of scant regard for thousands of Palestinian lives lost as a result of Israel’s war, which disregards the rights of women, children, men, the elderly and the sick:
The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement is also calling for the exclusion of Israel following the opening ceremony. The coalition condemns Israel’s ongoing actions against Palestinians in Gaza, noting the recent killing of soccer player Hazem Al-Ghalban and the destruction of sports facilities. They criticise the International Olympic Committee for allowing Israel’s participation, citing parallels to the past ban on Apartheid South Africa. They urge South African officials to push for international sanctions against Israel.
