# President Cyril Ramaphosa has rallied ANC party members and supporters to strive for a targeted and decisive victory in the upcoming elections. Ramaphosa is seeking a second term as president. Addressing ANC supporters and members during the party’s 112th birthday celebrations in Mbobela, Mpumalanga, the president emphasised the party’s commitment to accelerating economic reconstruction, renewing the ANC, and combating crime and corruption. The ANC is set to launch its election manifesto next month:
Ramaphosa also commended the ANC for what he calls, its transformative impact on South Africa since 1994. He highlighted what he deemed significant positive changes in the country compared to the apartheid era. The president emphasised the progress made over the past 30 years, stating today’s South Africa is a vastly improved version. Ramaphosa says the party’s anniversary is an opportune time to celebrate the nation’s achievements while continuing efforts to unite the country:
# ANC senior national executive committee member and minister for Women, Youth, and People with Disabilities, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, has announced her intention to retire after 30 years as a parliamentarian. Her decision coincides with the ANC’s ongoing interviews for its Parliamentary lists. Dlamini-Zuma is one of the longest-serving ANC members of parliament, having been in cabinet since 1994. She has also served under all five presidents since Nelson Mandela’s tenure.
# Friends of Palestine has commended South Africa for its moral courage in bringing Israel to the International Court of Justice. South Africa presented a landmark case accusing Israel of genocide during oral arguments at the Peace Palace in The Hague on Thursday. Israel has since refuted the allegations. Friends of Palestine’s Moulana Abdullah Bham has expressed appreciation on behalf of the Palestinian community for the support:
# And, rugby: The Bulls put one foot into the round of 16 of the Champions Cup yesterday with a dominant performance. They scored one of their greatest away wins since entering Europe, beating Bristol 31-17 at Ashton Gate. The victory could have been bigger as the Bulls turned down shots at goal three times in the first half. In the last seven minutes, Bristol scored twice. In Durban, the Sharks achieved a 38-7 bonus point win over Oyonnax in their Challenge Cup fixture. Ox Nche and Makazole Mapimpi both scored two of the Sharks’ four tries, while Oyonnax scored one.
