# The GOOD Party says if AfriForum has information about acts of terror carried out in the name of the ANC or anyone else during the apartheid era, it must share it with the National Prosecuting Authority. AfriForum has requested the Khampepe Commission to determine why ANC leaders have not been prosecuted for acts of terror. GOOD’s secretary general, Brett Herron, says AfriForum must not try to use this information to whitewash apartheid security force killers:
# Eskom says it is planning to return a total of three-thousand-380-megawatts of generation capacity to service ahead of the evening peak today, and throughout the coming week. This is to further strengthen the stability of the electricity grid. The power utility’s spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, says between 3 and 9 October, an average of ten-thousand-835-megawatts in unplanned outages was recorded, a significant improvement compared to the 11-thousand-920-megawatts during the same period last year:
# The Eastern Cape government has strongly condemned the planned shutdown action by taxi industry operators today, who are part of the government scholar transport programme. This follows a lengthy period of nonpayment, with some operators reporting they have not received payment for up to six months. The provincial government’s spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie, says such a shutdown will not only infringe on people’s right of movement, but will also negatively impact scores of taxi operators, who have private contracts:
# US president Donald Trump and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, will co-host a summit of more than 20 world leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh today. The summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, and usher in a new era of regional security and stability. The next phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan will be discussed. French president Emmanuel Macron, UK prime minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will also be in attendance.
# Road running: Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda won the 47th Chicago Marathon, clocking in a time of 2-hours, 2-minutes and 23-seconds. Running in just his second marathon, Kiplimo upgraded his London Marathon debut second place to a victory on Sunday. Kenyans Amos Kipruto and Alex Masai finished second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Hawi Feysa became the first Ethiopian winner of the Chicago Marathon women’s race in eight years, taking more than two minutes off her personal best to win in 2-hours, 14-minutes, and 56-seconds.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-36-cents and the euro at 20-rand-18-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-19-cents and Bitcoin trades at 114-thousand-999-dollars.
